SILVERWARE ON THE GRASS | Elisabet Ney Museum Renovation
LOCATION: Austin, Texas; United States
Design for the Interiors renovation of the Elisabet Ney Museum in Austin, Texas. Inspired by the profound love for nature and the lifestyle of the artist, this proposal uses nature as a backdrop of the art, combined with a selection of muted colors that blend the historical environment with added touches of contemporary design.
“On one occasion the artist invited a group of young friends to a picnic to celebrate Marie’s birthday. The site of the festivities was on the bank of Waller Creek, which bisects the grounds. Mr. Monroe stopped by in Stanley Steamer, and not having become an expert driver, backed the car over the picnic table. Food, silverware and china were scattered over the grass which to Miss Ney was more amusing than catastrophic”
